Sangotedo

Anchored by Novare Mall — newer estates, growing hotel scene, and a saner base for exploring the Ibeju-Lekki beaches to the east. Sangotedo is what Ajah wants to be when it grows up. Just east of Ajah, this is where the new estates, the newer malls, and most of the modern hotel developments have landed in the last 5-8 years. It's less frantic, cleaner, and increasingly popular with families who work in Lekki proper but want more space and lower rents. This suits budget-to-mid travellers who want modern amenities without Phase 1 prices, and anyone with plans to head further east to the beach resorts at Eleko or Lakowe golf. It does not suit anyone here for pure Lekki nightlife — you’re 30+ minutes from Phase 1 and the local scene is quiet by 11pm. Rooms run $50-$95 for solid mid-range, up to $140 for the newer aparthotels near Novare Mall.

Questions, answered

Is Sangotedo worth staying in over Ajah?

For most tourists yes — Sangotedo is newer, quieter, and cleaner for maybe 15% more on the room rate. Ajah is fine if you want cheap and don’t mind the roundabout chaos, but Sangotedo delivers better sleep and better food options.

How do I get to the Ibeju-Lekki beaches from Sangotedo?

Cars only — Bolt one-way to Eleko is $20-$30, and most drivers don’t want to wait. Best option is to arrange a driver through your hotel for $60-$100 for the day. Public danfos do the route but take 90+ minutes and stop constantly.
