The genuine beachfronts
La Campagne Tropicana out at Ikegun is the one everyone means when they say beach resort — thatched huts, a private lagoon and the Atlantic on the other side, from about $220 half-board. Inagbe Grand Resort on the island opposite Ikoyi is a boat-in property with fair swim beaches and rooms from $180. Both are proper get-away-from-Lagos beachfronts, not city hotels with sea views. Book two nights minimum or the transfer eats your trip.
In-town Lekki beach hotels
Landmark Village dominates the beach scene near Oniru with the busy Landmark Beach right at the door — rooms from about $190, and the beach club is where half of Lagos ends up on Sundays. Elegushi Beach in Lekki Phase 1 has smaller guesthouses like Beach Retreat and Elegushi View Lodge from $85 to $130; the beach itself is loud, cheerful and packed with suya vendors. Not restful, very Lagos.
Further out for quiet sand
Ilashe and Eleko are where the peninsula's real beaches live. La Manga Beach Resort at Eleko and the boutique villas at Kamp Ikare on Ilashe (boat access only) sit between $250 and $400 a night and give you empty sand on weekdays. If you want a hammock and no crowd, go Sunday-to-Thursday; weekends double the price and quadruple the noise.

The Atlantic here has strong rip currents. Landmark and La Campagne have lifeguards and marked swim zones. At public beaches like Elegushi swim only where locals are already in the water, and never past knee-deep after a heavy rain.
