Abraham Adesanya

The roundabout between Ajah and Sangotedo — small hotels tucked into gated estates and a solid mid-way base with good expressway access. Abraham Adesanya is a roundabout on the expressway just before Sangotedo, and the area has quietly built up around it with mid-tier estates and small hotels. It's less well-known than Ajah or Sangotedo but sometimes offers better value than either — because it lacks a big shopping mall anchor, prices haven’t inflated as much. This suits mid-budget travellers who don’t need constant walkable food and drink options and want a solid base for both Lekki west (Phase 1, Ikate) and Lekki east (Ibeju-Lekki, Epe). It does not suit anyone here for immediate nightlife or beach — everything requires a cab. Rooms run $45-$85 for clean mid-range, with better aparthotels at $90-$130.

Questions, answered

Is Abraham Adesanya safer than Ajah?

Marginally, because it's less of a transport interchange and therefore has fewer people passing through. Both are safe during the day with normal precautions; both need Bolt-only rules at night. If safety alone drives your choice, Sangotedo estates are the best pick east of Ajah.

What's the fastest way to Phase 1 from here?

Bolt via the expressway is 25-40 minutes off-peak, up to 75 minutes in Friday evening traffic. There's no shortcut. If you’re doing this run repeatedly, factor in that many drivers refuse long-distance requests during peak hours — always book with tips visible.
