How to get there

Boats to Ilashe leave from Tarzan Marina in Lekki Phase 1 and from Five Cowries Terminal in Falomo. A shared speedboat costs $40-$60 per person round trip; a private charter for up to eight is $200-$300 for the day. First boat is around 9am, last return around 5pm. Bring cash for the boatman, sunscreen, water and a dry bag for phones.

What to do on the island

Rent a beach house for the day: prices run $80-$200 depending on size and whether you want a private grill and staff. La Manga, iLashe Beach House and Bespoke Villa are the reliable picks. Days are for swimming, beach football, hammocks and a fresh-caught fish grill. Jet skis and quad bikes rent for $30 an hour from the beach touts. Do not swim past the second sandbar; the Atlantic pull is real.

Good to know

Is Ilashe safe to swim?+

Yes near the shore, but the undertow is strong. Stay chest-deep and never swim after two drinks.

Do I need to book a beach house in advance?+

On weekends yes, especially December to February. Weekdays you can walk up and negotiate.

Can I go to Ilashe with kids?+

Yes, and it is one of the better family beach days near Lagos. Pick a house with a shaded veranda and pack extra water.

Are there ATMs on Ilashe?+

No. Bring all the cash you will need for the boat, house, food and tips. Card readers do not work out there.
