Oniru Private Beach (sometimes just Oniru Beach) is the Oniru royal family's stretch of Atlantic shore, just west of the Landmark strip and immediately after the Lekki Phase 1 toll. Long before Landmark was built, this was the go-to beach for Lagos Island professionals — and it still holds its own on weekends with beach bars, live Afrobeats bands, horse rides, and easy access from Victoria Island.
It's rougher around the edges than Landmark but livelier and cheaper to enter. The bars along the sand serve everything from small chops to full fish barbecues, and Sunday afternoons can turn into impromptu open-air clubs. Swimming is still risky — stick to the paddling zone the lifeguards mark. Weekday visits are quiet and family-friendly; Friday and Saturday nights bring a young Lagos crowd hunting sundowners before hitting Victoria Island clubs.
