Elegushi (officially Kingdom of Elegushi Royal Beach) is the pulsing heart of Lekki nightlife on sand. Owned by the Elegushi royal family, it stretches for about 500 metres of Atlantic coastline just off Lekki-Epe Expressway. By day it fills with families riding horses and quad bikes; by sunset the beach bars fire up shisha, jollof, suya and Afrobeats until the small hours. It is the closest ocean-front hangout to Victoria Island and Lekki Phase 1.
Come Friday or Saturday night for the full club-on-sand experience — expect gate fees, paid parking and drinks at Lagos-lounge prices. For a calmer visit, aim for late morning midweek when horse handlers, jet-ski operators and photographers all quote lower rates. Avoid swimming: the undertow is strong and there are no formal lifeguards. Stick to ankle-deep water, keep valuables in the car, and pre-book a ride-hail back so surge pricing after midnight doesn’t sting.
