48 hours in Lekki

Two days is enough to hit 3 beaches, 2 markets and one very loud club night. Here is the tight version.

6 min de lecture

Day 1: Phase 1 and the Lagoon

Start with breakfast at Cafe Neo on Admiralty Way (around $8 for coffee and eggs), then walk Admiralty toward the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge for skyline photos. Spend late morning at Lekki Conservation Centre off Lekki-Epe Expressway; the canopy walkway costs about $6 and takes 90 minutes. Grab jollof lunch at The Yellow Chilli on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive if you cross to Ikoyi, or stay in Phase 1 for grilled fish at RSVP.

Late afternoon, head to Elegushi Beach ($5 gate fee) for sunset, horse rides and grilled suya. Dinner at Cactus on Admiralty Way, then nightlife along Admiralty and Freedom Way: Vellvett, Quilox or a rooftop pour at Hard Rock Cafe on the beachfront.

Day 2: Water, market, cruise

Book a morning boat ride out of Tarzan Marina or Elegushi Jetty to Ilashe or Tarkwa Bay beach; expect $40-$70 per person for a shared speedboat with a few hours ashore. Pack cash, sunscreen and a towel. Lunch is beachside grilled prawns and coconut rice at one of the private beach houses.

Back in Lekki by 4pm, hit Lekki Arts and Crafts Market on Lekki-Epe Expressway for masks, ankara and beadwork; haggle to about 50 percent of the opening price. Sunset drinks at Sky Restaurant or Bature Brewery in Victoria Island, then dinner and a late set at Hard Rock or Cubana.

Getting around in 48 hours

Uber and Bolt work everywhere in Lekki and cost $2-$6 for most in-Phase-1 hops. Traffic on Lekki-Epe Expressway is worst 7-10am and 5-8pm; plan the beach and conservation centre in the morning and the market in the afternoon to avoid the crawl back toward the toll gate. Keep small $1 notes for parking touts and beach entry.
