Who it suits
Ajah is where Lekki starts to feel like the rest of Lagos again. The Ajah roundabout is a major transport interchange — danfos to Obalende, Ikorodu, CMS, plus a wave of okada and keke back into the estates. Accommodation sits along the expressway and inside estates like Thomas Estate, Ado, and Badore, with prices about half of Phase 1 for similar-grade rooms.
It suits budget travellers, visitors attending events at Sangotedo or Novare Mall, and anyone using public transport rather than private cars. It also suits families visiting relatives in the estates back toward the lagoon (Badore, Langbasa) since a taxi from Ajah in is short and cheap.
Who it does not suit
Anyone who wants peace. The roundabout is loud from 5am to about 11pm and the pedestrian bridge situation means people constantly cross the expressway on foot, which adds to horn traffic. Anyone with early Island meetings — you are 25km from Victoria Island and the morning inbound is punishing.
It is also not a first-visit area. If it is your maiden trip to Lagos, Ajah's noise and crowd density will exhaust you before you have started. Stay Phase 1 or Ikate first, visit Ajah on a day trip.
What is within walking distance
Ajah Market (fresh food, cheaper than the Lekki-side supermarkets by a third), a knot of restaurants doing amala, ewa agoyin and pounded yam for ₦1,500-₦3,000, several banks, and the Sangotedo-bound bus stops. Novare Mall (Shoprite, cinema, food court) is 10 minutes by keke or 25 minutes on foot. Abraham Adesanya roundabout is 15 minutes further east by car.

Can I use public transport from Ajah easily?+
Yes — this is one of the few Lekki-area nodes with proper danfo connectivity to the mainland. A ride to Obalende is ₦800-₦1,200 depending on time of day.
How long to Victoria Island from Ajah?+
45 minutes off-peak, 90-120 minutes in evening traffic. Morning inbound is worst — leave by 6am or resign yourself to 2 hours.
