The setup
You do not need a car in Lekki if you sleep in Phase 1 or Ikate and you’re willing to Bolt everywhere else. Bolt and Uber both work, Bolt is cheaper and has more drivers. Typical fares from Phase 1: Conservation Centre ₦2,500, Nike Gallery ₦1,500, VI ₦3,500, Ibeju-Lekki (La Campagne) ₦12,000-₦18,000. Surge kicks in around 6pm and after rain.
Keeper move: use the app's scheduled rides for anything before 8am. Trying to find a driver at 6:30am on an expressway morning is not fun.
Day by day
Day 1 (Phase 1 walking day): everything on foot as per the walking route above, one Bolt back from Landmark. Total ride spend: ₦2,000. Day 2 (nature and art): Bolt to Conservation Centre (₦2,500), Bolt to Nike Gallery (₦2,000 from LCC), Bolt to Terra Kulture VI (₦3,500), Bolt home (₦3,500). Total: ₦11,500.
Day 3 (boat and beach): Bolt to Five Cowries Terminal in Falomo (₦3,000), shared boat to Tarkwa Bay (₦5,000 return), Bolt from Falomo to dinner in VI (₦2,500), Bolt home (₦3,500). Total: ₦14,000 including boat.
Where to sleep and edge cases
Sleep in Phase 1 or Ikate. Anywhere past Chevron toll doubles your ride costs and your wait times. Radisson Blu Lekki, Bluebell, Cavier Suites and Ferndale all work. Skip Ibeju-Lekki as a base if you’re car-free — you’ll spend more on Bolts than you saved on the hotel.
Edge case: Ibeju-Lekki day trip. Book a return Bolt or hire a driver for the day (₦40,000-₦50,000). Do not rely on finding a Bolt in Eleko or La Campagne to bring you home — supply drops off dramatically past Awoyaya.

What about danfos and keke?+
Danfos (yellow buses) run the expressway and are cheap (₦300-₦800) but chaotic and pickpocket-prone. Kekes (tricycles) work for short hops inside estates. If you’re new to Lagos, stick to Bolt for the first trip.
Is Bolt reliable at night?+
Yes in Phase 1, Ikate, VI and Ikoyi until about midnight. Past midnight, book ahead or ask your restaurant to call a trusted driver. Past Chevron toll, night supply is thin — plan the return before you go.
