The route
Start at 7am at the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge Lekki-side entrance. Walk the bridge pedestrian lane to the Ikoyi side and back — that's 3 km round trip with the best skyline view in Lagos. Back on the Lekki side by 8am, walk south down Admiralty Way. Coffee at Cafe Neo or Ilashe.
Continue past the Admiralty Way roundabout onto Freedom Way. This is the spine of Phase 1: banks, restaurants, boutiques. Turn left onto Fola Osibo, then right onto Kusenla to reach the Nike Art Gallery. That's roughly 4.5 km walked. Rest, browse the gallery for an hour.
The second half
Leave Nike Gallery by 11am, walk east on Kusenla to Oniru Estate boundary. Turn right and head toward Landmark Beach. It's a 1.5 km walk through what's arguably the densest concentration of good food in Lekki: RSVP, Craft Gourmet, Bungalow all on this stretch. Lunch anywhere here.
Finish at Landmark Beach by 1pm. Beach entry ₦2,000-₦5,000 depending on day and setup. Total distance: 6 km. Total time with stops: 6 hours. Get a Bolt back to your hotel from Landmark — walking Phase 1 in the afternoon heat is a mistake.
Where to sleep and what to know
Sleep in Phase 1 to make this walk work — the Radisson Blu, Bluebell, or any Admiralty Way hotel is within 500m of the start. Wear proper shoes; the sidewalks are inconsistent and you’ll cross unfinished pavement. Bring water. The bridge walk before 8am is the only time it's cool enough to enjoy — after 10am the sun on the concrete is punishing.
Good to know
Is it safe to walk around Lekki Phase 1?+
Yes, in daylight, on the main roads described here. Phase 1 is one of the safest neighbourhoods in Lagos for foot traffic. Avoid quiet side streets after dark.
Can I extend the walk further?+
You can push south to Elegushi Beach — another 3 km — but the section past Landmark loses the pavement and gets sandy and hot. Better to Bolt it.
