What's out here
Ibeju-Lekki starts around Awoyaya and runs east past Eleko, Ibeju town and the Free Trade Zone all the way to Epe. The peninsula's best beaches — Eleko, La Campagne, Ikegun — are here, along with the biggest resorts. The Lekki-Epe Expressway is being expanded but traffic can still add 90 minutes each way from Lekki Phase 1. You come here for a two- or three-night resort break, not for a day trip unless you leave by 7am.
Where to stay
La Campagne Tropicana ($220 half-board) is the marquee resort — thatch huts, private beach, canoe safaris. Lakowe Lakes ($280) has the golf and the pool. La Manga Beach Resort at Eleko ($200 to $350) is the newer beachfront option. For cheaper, look at Awoyaya guesthouses from $70. Book direct where possible; aggregators mark up 15 to 25% on the resort category. Two nights is the sweet spot — one night barely pays for the transfer.
What to do beyond the pool
Lekki Conservation Centre is technically Lekki Phase 2 but easy to combine with an Ibeju-Lekki trip. Lufasi Nature Park at Km 21 is the underrated one — forest, birdwatching, entry $5. The Nike Art Gallery outposts, the Dangote refinery viewpoint (from a distance), and the Alaro City development site are curiosity stops. Real reason to come: beach, quiet, slower pace. Bring a book, not an itinerary.

How long does it take to reach Ibeju-Lekki from the airport?+
Two to three hours depending on time. If you’re going straight to a resort, arrange the transfer with the hotel — expect $80 to $120. Coming from Lekki Phase 1, allow 90 minutes to two hours in normal traffic.
Is Ibeju-Lekki safe?+
The resort areas and main expressway are safe with normal precautions. Do not drive off the main roads at night — signage is poor and phone signal is patchy in stretches. Stick to the coastal route and known jetties.
