Alpha Beach lies at the end of Alpha Beach Road, a short spur off Lekki-Epe Expressway near Chevron Drive. It's a raw, unmanicured beach — no resort, no ticket gate, no lifeguards — and that's exactly why Lagosians love it. Fishermen pull nets in at dawn, joggers use the hard-packed sand at sunrise, and by afternoon a handful of shacks serve jollof rice, grilled fish and beer to weekend visitors.
The surf is heavy and swimming is genuinely dangerous here — do not go past your knees. Instead, come for a long shoreline walk, a photography session (the driftwood and eroded palms are spectacular), or an evening beer with friends. The road has been slowly reclaimed by the ocean over the last decade, so drive slowly on the final stretch. Park where locals park, tip the informal attendant a dollar or two, and keep valuables out of sight.
