Days 1-2: Settle into Phase 1

Base yourself on Admiralty Way or Freedom Way. Day one is walking: coffee at Cafe Neo, the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge at golden hour, dinner at Terra Kulture across the bridge for a Nigerian tasting menu around $30. Day two is Lekki Conservation Centre in the morning ($6 entry, 2 hours), Lekki Arts and Crafts Market in the afternoon, and sunset cocktails at Sky Restaurant on the 18th floor of Eko Hotel.

Days 3-4: Beaches and boats

Day three, boat out to Ilashe Beach from Tarzan Marina; a shared speedboat runs about $50 per person for a full day with a beach house lunch. Day four is Elegushi in the morning for horses and jet skis, then La Campagne Tropicana further down the Lekki-Epe Expressway if you want a quieter, resort-style beach ($40 day pass).

Evenings: try Bature Brewery in VI for craft beer at about $6 a pour, then Freedom Way for Vellvett or Quilox. If clubbing is not your thing, catch live Afrobeats at Hard Rock Cafe on Water Corporation Drive.

Day 5: Day trip to Epe

Drive an hour east on Lekki-Epe Expressway to Epe Fish Market for the morning catch and a boat out to Erin Ijesha-style creek villages. Lunch at Epe waterfront on grilled catfish and pepper soup for under $10. Back in Lekki by 6pm.

Days 6-7: Culture and cruise

Day six is Nike Art Gallery on Elegushi Road, five floors of Nigerian art with free entry and free guided tours. Follow with lunch at Ile-Iyan on Fola Osibo. Day seven, book a sunset cruise on Lagos Lagoon out of Five Cowries Terminal for about $35 per person, then a farewell dinner at Cactus or RSVP.

Good to know

No, especially if you like beach days. Between island beaches, Epe, Nike Gallery and Victoria Island nightlife, seven days fills up easily without repeating yourself.

How much for a week in Lekki?+

Plan on $900-$1,500 per person for a mid-range week including a boat cruise, 2 island beach days, hotels around $80 a night and dinners around $20.

No. Uber and Bolt are cheap ($3-$8 rides) and parking is a headache. Hire a driver for the day at about $60 if you plan Epe or La Campagne.

November to February. Dry, breezy, no lagoon flooding, and the beach houses are running at full tilt through the December Detty season.
