Ride-hailing
Uber and Bolt work everywhere in Lekki, VI and Ikoyi. In-Phase-1 hops cost $2-$4, Lekki to VI is $4-$8, Lekki to the airport is $12-$20. Bolt is 15-20 percent cheaper. Both accept card or cash. Waits are usually under 5 minutes on Admiralty Way; longer past 11pm when surge kicks in. Do not accept off-app cash-only rides from drivers.
Hired driver
The best option for day trips or a full-day sightseeing loop. Rates run $50-$80 for a full day (10 hours) with an English-speaking driver in a saloon car; SUVs are $100-$130. Book through your hotel concierge or agencies like Sixt Nigeria. Includes fuel; you tip the driver about $10 at the end.
Danfo and keke
Yellow danfo minibuses run Lekki-Epe Expressway from the toll gate to Ajah and Sangotedo for about $0.50 a hop. Kekes (three-wheelers) do short in-estate runs for $1-$2. Both are cheap, packed, and not really tourist-friendly unless you speak some Pidgin. Fine for a novelty ride, not for daily transport.

Should I rent a car in Lekki?+
No. Traffic, aggressive driving, unclear signage and expensive parking make self-drive a bad idea. Hire a driver for $60-$80 a day instead.
How long does Lekki to the airport take?+
45 minutes at 5am, 2.5 hours at 5pm. For international departures, leave Lekki at least 3.5 hours before your flight.
Is there a train or metro?+
The Lagos Blue Line runs from Marina to Mile 2 but does not reach Lekki. There is no useful public rail here yet.
Are okada motorbikes safe?+
Okadas are banned in most of Lekki and VI, and the ones still operating are unlicensed. Skip them.
