Where to stay in Ibeju-Lekki

The resort belt — ₦80,000-₦300,000 a night at the beach properties, or ₦25,000 in the towns behind — and Lagos-level nightlife is 90 minutes away.

Who it suits

Ibeju-Lekki is the entire local government area east of Awoyaya, running from Eleko past the Free Zone to Ibeju town itself. The accommodation splits sharply: beach resorts (La Campagne Tropicana, Amen Beach, La Manga, various smaller places) charging ₦120,000-₦300,000 a night for full-board packages, and small hotels and guesthouses in the inland towns at ₦25,000-₦40,000.

The resorts suit couples, honeymoon-adjacent trips and small groups paying for the day-and-night package experience. The town accommodation suits Free Zone contractors, Dangote workers and anyone whose reason for being in the area is business rather than beach.

Who it does not suit

Nightlife travellers. Ibeju-Lekki closes at about 10pm outside the resort compounds, and even inside the resorts the vibe is dinner-and-bed rather than club-till-4. Anyone whose trip is really about Lagos city — you are effectively out of it here, and the 90-minute journey back for a dinner and 90-minute return is punishing.

First-time Lagos visitors who wanted city character — Ibeju-Lekki gives you beach and resort, not markets and street food and traffic dramas. Come here on night two after seeing Phase 1 first.

What is within walking distance

Inside a resort, everything you need is on site — restaurant, bar, beach, pool. Outside the resort gates, generally little. La Campagne is on a large private compound; Amen Beach has small vendors just outside the gate. In the inland towns (Akodo, Igando, Ibeju) you get local markets, chophouses and filling stations, but no tourist infrastructure beyond a few boutique bars.

Bon à savoir

Do I need a car to stay in Ibeju-Lekki?+

If you are at a resort on a package, no — everything is on site. If you are staying in a town hotel and want to visit beaches, yes, or budget substantially for hired drivers.

How far to Phase 1 from a Free Zone hotel?+

70-90 minutes off-peak, 2.5-3 hours in evening traffic. Do not plan a Phase 1 dinner as a casual outing.
