Who it suits
Agungi runs between Chevron and Osapa, off the expressway on the lagoon side. It is almost entirely residential — duplexes, low-rise apartments, corner shops, a couple of churches per street. There are no hotels of any scale here, but there are hundreds of short-let apartments, and they are among the cheapest well-equipped stays in Lekki. A modern one-bed with air-con, inverter backup and Wi-Fi runs ₦40,000-₦55,000 a night, about half of Phase 1.
It suits longer stays — two weeks plus — and anyone who wants to see how Lekki actually functions rather than the polished corridors tourists see. Families on relocation scouting trips base here for exactly this reason.
Who it does not suit
Short-trip visitors. There is nothing to do in Agungi. The nearest cinema is Circle Mall (10 minutes), the nearest beach is Elegushi (15-20 minutes) and the nearest restaurant strip is Osapa's Freedom Way extension (8 minutes). Everything is a car ride.
Solo travellers without a data plan will struggle — house numbers are inconsistent, streets are frequently unlit, and even Bolt drivers ask for landmark directions. Come with a local contact or a very patient driver.
What is within walking distance
Corner shops, a few mama-put spots (rice and stew for around ₦2,500), pharmacies, and one or two mid-sized supermarkets depending on which street you land on. Agungi Market itself sits at the north end near the expressway and is worth a walk in the morning — fresh produce, live catfish, egusi and ogbono by the cup. Not a shopping experience for the squeamish, but the prices are a third of Spar.

Is Agungi safe at night?+
Broadly yes — it is a family neighbourhood with active vigilante and estate security. Walking after 10pm is not customary, mostly because streetlights are patchy rather than because of crime.
Can I find a serviced apartment here for a month?+
Easily. Monthly rates drop to around ₦900,000-₦1.3m for a one-bed with all utilities included, which beats hotel long-stay rates by a wide margin.
