The context
Lekki rain is not London rain. It's short, violent, and floods roads within 20 minutes. The heaviest months are June and July. If your day starts grey, don’t try to salvage a beach plan — commit to the indoor version. The good news: Lekki has genuinely good indoor culture and food, and traffic is often lighter because everyone else is stuck.
The bad news: some low-lying roads (parts of Admiralty Way, sections of Freedom Way, the Ajah underpass) flood fast. Don’t try to drive through standing water in a low car.
The route
10am at Nike Art Gallery in Ikate. Five floors, no rush, easy to spend two hours. 12:30pm lunch at Terra Kulture in VI — the building is enclosed, the restaurant is good, and the bookshop next door adds another hour easily. 3pm at Landmark Village — the indoor concourse has cafes, a spa, and a coworking space if you want to actually work. Or if the rain has slowed, walk the covered beach entry.
5:30pm at The Palms or Novare Lekki Mall for a cinema. Nigerian films at Filmhouse are the correct choice over Hollywood — you’re here, watch what's here. 8pm dinner at any of the mall's better restaurants or back to Cilantro on Admiralty.
Where to sleep
Sleep somewhere with a real gym and a covered restaurant so you’re not forced out in the rain for dinner if it's still pouring at 9pm. Radisson Blu Lekki, Best Western Plus, or Lekki Coliseum all qualify. Avoid serviced apartments without a restaurant during the rainy season — you’ll end up ordering Bolt Food and paying surge pricing on a wet delivery.
