1) The Landmark Beach pier at low tide — the pier extends far enough that the sun genuinely sets over water, not buildings. Get there by 5.30pm in dry season. Entry around ₦5,000. 2) Elegushi Beach, facing west along the sand — busier and more chaotic, but the sunset over the market stalls and the drumming crowds is Lagos at full volume. 3) Refuge Bar rooftop, Admiralty Way — the sun drops behind the low Phase 1 skyline; not over water, but the elevation and the drink in hand compensate.
Landmark wins for the view itself; the pier does the work of getting you past the beach clutter. Elegushi wins for atmosphere — no view in Lagos is more alive at that hour. Refuge is the sensible choice if you don’t want sand in your shoes and you want a proper cocktail. All three peak between 6pm and 6.45pm depending on the month; check the day's exact time and arrive 30 minutes before.

4) The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge walked west-to-east at sunset — you get the sun behind Falomo and the lit Ikoyi skyline ahead. Time it right and the whole city lights up in the last ten minutes of walking. 5) Ilashe Beach — if you’re already there for the day, the sunset over the lagoon on the boat back is genuinely spectacular. Not a same-day option if you’re only booked for the afternoon.
Avoid Oniru Beach for sunset — the seawall blocks the horizon. Avoid any rooftop in Chevron or Agungi — the neighbourhood is too low and too far from the coast. And do not chase sunsets in the rainy season, June to September, when the cloud cover is total for weeks at a time. December to March is the reliable window.
